Arthur Ashe is known as the first black man to win the U.S open in tennis.

Arthur Ashe was born July 10th,1943 in Richmond,Virginia .U.S.

He was also the founder for the defeats of AIDS in 1983.
Ashe was married to Professional Photographer Jeanne Moutoussamy.

Ashe was a TV sports commentator and columnist and wrote a 3-Volume books:"A Hard Road to Glory","Days of Grace" and "Off the court".

What more about him?
He was an African American tennis star who won three gran slam titles.

The only black man to win the singles title at Nimbledon.This is despite battling against racism and segregation throughout his career.

The Apartheid Government denied him a visa to play in the South African oprn in 1969.
They finally allowed him to play in the country in 1973.He was ranked world number one in 1975.

He contracted AIDS from a blood transfusion in 1983.He announced his illness in the 90s and educated people about HIV and AIDS.He died in 1993.
